The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, established Karnataka State Open School (KSOS) as an autonomous institution under the National Education Policy. KSOS offers academic courses at the secondary and senior secondary level, as well as courses at the elementary level through its Open Basic Education Programs (OBE).
Two significant departments within KSOS are the Education Department and the Vocational Education Department. These departments create courses and/or educational programs to allow students to pursue their preferred learning path. The Academic Department oversees academic courses that span the whole schooling continuum, from primary to pre-degree levels. They provide consistent, inclusive learning with flexible, universal access to high-quality education and skill development through a vested NIOS authorized to certify in the Government of India.
The Karnataka State Open School offers pre-university education, vocational training, foundation education, and tests for students who finish the course. This programme is intended for students who have passed Class X or comparable examination from a recognized board and seek to continue their education in Senior Secondary Certification equivalent to 12th Class standard. Candidates who pass six topics are permitted by the government to enroll in pre-university education.
The II PUC exam is administered by Karnataka State Open School (KSOS) each year in March or April.
